Current favorites: beauty edition

[I am procrastinating posting about Paris....it's so hard to sum up such a fantastic trip! But I am working on it, I promise....]

So in the meantime, I'm jotting down my current favorite little beauty things instead. I love reading friends' recommendations on stuff (check out my friend Alex's blog, she always has great recs). These items are by no means new, just some of my current favorite finds.

+ Dry shampoo
Dry shampoo is saving my life. It adds at least 15 extra minutes of sleep to my early mornings. It absorbs oils and helps to keep hair fresh in between washings. Also, it gives my hair great volume! Guess they really knew what was up in the '70s. I prefer powder versus spray and my favorite brand is Lulu Organics. Trust me it's worth the price. If you like a spray better, Suave has a great one for only $2.99!

+ Birchbox
Speaking of Lulu Organics, I found that company through my monthly Birchbox. For $10 a month Birchbox sends you samples of skincare, makeup and fun little non-beauty items. It's a great way to discover new products. And more importantly, who doesn't love getting packages? I LOVE it and I think you definitely get more than $10 worth of products.

+ BB cream
I heard about BB cream last summer (thank you People magazine) and I was so excited to try it. I hate the idea of foundation but felt like I needed to grow up and start using 'mom makeup' :) BB cream is a great middle ground for me. It's a tinted moisturizer that evens out my skin and has SPF. I pair it with my face lotion in the winter for extra moisturizing power. My fav BB cream is from Sephora and was a lovely Christmas gift from the momma.

+ Vaseline
I have been a long time lover of lip gloss. All my Christmas stockings were always filled with lip gloss :) I've fallen in and out of love with most every lip gloss out there. But Target has come to my rescue once again. Vaseline. Good ole Vaseline. This love is real and it is here to stay. I bought a big tub for my night stand- I like the kind with cocoa butter. Target also sells an adorable mini version - perfect for stashing in purses. Hallelujah.

+ Bag balm
As in the stuff used on cows' utters. Strange but effective. This is another old school goodie. My feet get so dry and gross in the winter and this stuff works miracles. At night, I rub this on my feet then cover them with socks to let it soak in overnight.

+Body lotion
Bliss body butter. This east coast winter is killing my skin but this is a life saver. There are tons of great lotions out there but this is def at the top of my list. But do yourself a favor though and stay away from the lemon scented one. Thankfully both TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack selling it for 50% off :)

If you have any great products that you love, please send them my way!

No Boys Allowed

This weekend Blake had class all weekend so he was nice enough to fly me out to Denver to
meet up with my two BFFs Steph and Lisa. We've been friends since 7th grade.
I even remember Steph's outfit the first day of 7th grade...that's friendship.

I got in late Friday night and our first stop was Sonic for some vanilla Diet Coke with pebble ice.
We stayed up chatting until 3 am (5 am my time...work was rough on Monday).
Steph has such a cute apartment and she was a great hostess.
She even stocked up on chocolate and Diet Coke.

The next morning Steph took us to Snooze for some of the best blueberry pancakes.
It was worth the hour and half wait for sure!

Next up was shopping at Cherry Creek to buy matching shirts, makeup and earrings. It was awesome. I forgot how fun it is to shop with girls! They encourage you to buy everything :)

We tried to convert Steph to Chipotle that night....but I think we'll need another girls weekend to make her a Chipotle lover. We made a late night stop to the weird grocery store- King Soopers (are you serious?) to buy Vitamin C, donuts, and juice. Obviously. We laughed our heads off watching Pitch Perfect and chatting until 3 am...again. We texted eachother in emojis for about an hour...normal.

The best part of the weekend was remembering how dumb we were growing up and
seeing Lisa's adorable baby bump! Can't wait for baby Healey this summer!!!

Before I knew it I was landing back in DC on Sunday night.
It was such as fun weekend connecting again with L and S.

Blake even snuck a little love note into my purse. #cutie
