Teddy 5 months

We have had a fun month with Teddy Bear celebrating his first Thanksgiving! We flew to Seattle (this cross country flight did NOT go all well as the last :( ) to celebrate with the Behnkes. Teddy loved all of the attention, especially going on walks and matching with Grandpa!

This past month Teddy has learned to roll in both directions, sit by himself for a few seconds and transfer toys from hand to hand. He used to be such a good sleeper but has recently hit a rough patch. He continues to be happy and calm and rarely cries (unless we're on a cross country flight at bedtime....) He loves to pat your cheeks when you hold him and giggles when Blake plays airplane with him. He loves to sleep on his tummy and suck his pointer finger if he's really tired. He is suddenly very interested in food and attempts to grab whatever we are eating. I had a piece of a twizzler sticking out of my mouth and he swiped it and stuck it right in his mouth before I could stop him! So we will be starting solid foods this weekend! I can't believe he is big enough for that now. He thinks he can crawl and scoots his bum up in the air in an attempt to move forward but still stays put. It's pretty hilarious to watch him try so hard. After a long protest against the bottle, he drank a little for Blake while I snuck away to the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony! We are already having a blast celebrating this Christmas season, he is a big Michael Buble fan. We can't wait for Utah next week!!!

I went to a lecture by Gretchen Rubin a while ago and she said about motherhood, "The days are long but the years are short." I already feel this to be too true and am trying my hardest to soak up every moment with my baby boy. We hit 6 months so soon!!!

Teddy 4 months

(I have no idea why Blogger is being so weird with font size!)

Teddy's 4th month mostly consisted of lots of packing then unpacking and he was a trooper through it all! We recently moved closer to Blake's work in Tyson's Corner, VA. Seeing Dad a lot more has us all pretty happy.

This past month Teddy learned to roll over from his back to his tummy. Now anytime you put him on his back to play, he immediately flips over onto his tummy. He is able to sometimes fall back onto his side and back but is still working on the full roll. Teddy is so mobile and active! I leave the room for 2 minutes and when I come back he is three feet away from where I left him! He has also discovered his toes and loves to chomp on his chubby little piggies. He does this crazy arm thing when he is nursing now where his arm on the outside just swings around wildly. He grabs at my hair and necklaces constantly. Teddy will also sometimes sweetly stroke my face or touch my mouth while he nurses which I love.

He loves to feel things now. He scratches textured surfaces and loves to run his hands up and down the rails of his crib. He is 100% out of the newborn phase and is a growing baby. He is sleeping about 8:30-7 most nights and naps pretty well. Teddy is discovering his tongue and mouth too. He concentrates really hard and makes slobbery "bubu" sounds which makes my speech-pathologist heart proud. Teddy thinks getting undressed is hilarious and always giggles when he take his arms out of his sleeves (???). He continues to love bath time and FaceTiming Aunt Amy every night.

We packed in lots of fun story times with our bestie Cohen this month before we moved. We also had a really fun visit from Aunt Sara and Grandma Ramona. They packed the kitchen and gave Teddy lots of attention. We celebrated Sara and Blake's birthdays with a delicious BBQ and a fun brunch. Our ward Trunk or Treat was a blast and Bao Bao was a hit! We visited Dad at work on Halloween and explored our new neighborhood.

I was very sad to move from Alexandria and leave Teddy's first home but our place is getting better and better. We went to our new ward on Sunday and there aren't a ton of babies so Teddy got A LOT of attention from everyone. Everyone was really friendly and excited to have us there so that's helping with the [20 min away] homesickness. Teddy continues to be a 100% dream baby and we couldn't love him more!

we love Story Time and Cohen!

Teddy 3 months

THIS has been the best month with Teddy! He continues to be a happy, smiley, pleasant baby. He is getting chubby and has the cutest double chin. I'd guess he's around 14.5 lbs and 25 inches. He rocked both of his flights to and from Utah- sleeping the entire time. I'm convinced he is giving us a false sense of reality of life with a newborn and will make up for it in his toddler years ;)

He stole everyone's hearts in Utah, making it extra hard to leave this time. We enjoyed time with Great Grandma Siddoway and Grandma Barbara especially. Teddy loved his cousins Anne, Heidi and Liesel too. He also met his girlfriends Elle and Livy! It was the best to be able to hang out with Lisa and drink Gigis :). We went on a walk up the mountains and enjoyed the beginnings of fantastic fall weather. And we ate all our favorite Utah food of course.

Teddy *usually* sleeps about 9:00 pm-6:30 am now so no complaints here! (Although this week he has kept us humble by waking up between 4-5 am each morning ha). His new trick is to swat and kick at his overhanging toy contraption. He loves that thing and could just happily swat at it all day long. We have started story time and the library every week now, he doesn't normally really show a lot of interest in it yet but its a fun way to get out of the house. Some silly songs make him giggle so loud though, it's so fun! He moves around like crazy in his crib, especially when he is trying to free himself of the swaddle. I came in one afternoon and he had done a full 180 degree turn! If he had his way he would be held all day long while he napped ;)

Being swaddled and cuddled is still his favorite thing. He giggled for the first time on my birthday (best gift ever!) and it was beyond adorable. He gets kinda slap happy and hyper at night sometimes now if we keep him up later (#firsttimeparents). He still loves bath time with Dad and kicks like a maniac. He also loves arching his back so much he almost flips onto his stomach. His favorite position is laying with his ankles crossed and sucking on his fists. He also loves lights, shadows and ceiling fans now, his eyes get so big tracking objects it's hilarious.

We are looking forward to a visit from Grandma Ramona and Aunt Sara in a few weeks. Then moving to our new place! Hooray for no more commuting for Dad!
